Easter

We went to Oma and Opas tonight for Easter dinner and and easter egg hunt. Jake is in NY for a training so he wasnt there (sniffle sniffle). Jonah loved the easter egg hunt and Tobin....well...we were just trying to keep him from jumping in the pool. Oh yeah, and he threw major tantrums for every picture we tried to take. What a punk.

Jonah turns 5!

We had a combined bday party for Jonah and his cousin Cole yesterday. Cole turned 2 and Jonah turned 5. They both have the same birthday so we decided to do a combined party. It was sooooo chaotic but a ton of fun-all of the kids were "helping" with opening the presents. Jennie (coles mom) and i had a great time busting out our cake making skills for the boys. Everything was awesome! Jonah did pretty well with all of the noise and people. I cant believe he's already 5!

DISGUSTING

No matter how clean my house it, how finger smudge free my doors are (well, they really arent), how sterile my countertop is (well, it probably isnt either); raising kids is, at times very disgusting.
Jonah was sitting in the toilet one day dropping the kids off at the pool. I walked away while he was doing his business and didnt come back (yes, i forgot about him) until i heard him whining. I quickly remembered that he probably needed help with the wiping. I came into the bathroom and was immediately overtook by the "child poo" scent and then noticed that Jonahs hands were no longer clean. He had taken it upon himself to wipe his own tooshy....without the TP!! Yes, bits of poop were all over his fingers, hands, the toilet, and his legs. Full of disgust i immediately brought him to the sink to wash his hands and cleaned up everything else. Then (now, this is where it gets even more gross) i had to CLIP HIS FINGERNAILS to get the poo out of there and re-wash his hands. It was ridiculously nasty.
A few days later i took the kids to this crap outlet mall in draper that has about 4 stores in it and the majority of it is empty of retailer and shoppers. I go there once in a while so my kids can run and wiggle and yell without it disturbing anyone, getting lost, and where i can see them all of the time. I just sit with Ireland and watch them run and run. Well, as it came time to leave Tobin began to throw a huge fit (nothing new there) and as i was struggling with forcing him into the carseat, i noticed something in his wide open crying mouth. It was a PIECE OF ALREADY CHEWED GUM covered in dirt and paper (which was surprisingly still fruity smelling) that he must have picked up off the floor and started chomping on. I immediately was convinced that he had probably caugh herpes and was dry heaving for the next few minutes.
Kids are disgusting.

This is how Ireland fell asleep in Jakes arm yesterday. I laugh everytime i look at the picture!

Tester cake

Deep inside of me there is a desire to make and decorate cakes for a living (which is why Ace of Cakes of one of my favorite shows to watch). So yesterday i decided to make some fondant and do a little tester cake. I tried to make a pumpkin orange fondant, but got sick of constantly mixing the food coloring in with the tough fondant. so i stopped at peach. but it was fun to make fondant-messy, but fun. And after making the piping chocolate to what i thought was a good consistency, i found to to be too runny. i guess thats the point of a tester cake. Now...what to do with it (i purposefully made the cake in flavors in dont care for so i wouldnt eat it!) I definately need oodles of practice..... that's the fun part!

WHY?

was i dumb enough to leave a permanent marker within a 2 year olds reach? At least i had a few magic erasers on hand. I got the marker off of the TV and book shelf. As for the bean bag, kid table and slide...well.... it will always hold a faint black scribble to remind me of the joys of motherhood.

Marks 60th Bday Extravaganza!

New pics

A huge THANK YOU to Jennie for taking these pics of my kids with her nifty camera. We used a black sheet for the back drop, and our kitchen table for the seating (obviously there are some touchups to do with the wrinkly sheet...). It was great to be able to take good pics of the kids in the comfort of our home (especially since Jonah cries each time i take him to get his pic taken at a studio). There are a lot more pics than this, just wanted to post a few for all of you to see. My kids are pretty dang cute--and quite pale!
